CLEARING YOUR TO-DO LIST!

Actualizado: 6 mar 2019

EOI PONFERRADA - BLOG POST - C1 LEVEL

Am I a procrastinator? What are my top ten activities that I usually procrastinate on? Why do we do that? Those questions you can probably ask yourself from time to time. Don’t worry; you aren’t different from the rest of us! For instance, who is the first in the morning that wakes up just when the alarm clock starts buzzing?

The answer to these questions is inside us. We constantly put off things that we don’t like or which demand a great effort. The more activities that are written down in our to-do list, the worst. This situation is the same as New Year’s resolutions, we aren’t aware of the difficulty of the tasks/goals and then we’ll be frustrated and overwhelmed. Well, now we know the reasons and the next would be to handle procrastination in the easiest way.

Firstly, you have to write down three columns in a piece of paper:

1. all the tasks that you are forced to do.

2. tasks that you don’t like but you don’t mind to do.

3. all the tasks that you like or are shorter than the others.

Secondly, you’ll need post-its in three different colours, red (1), yellow (2) and green (3), like a traffic light. Congratulations! You have learned to organise tasks! We shouldn’t sit on the fence instead of tackling the problems.

Finally, you should do at least three tasks per day in the colour order red, yellow and green. It is important for you to start with the hardest one (red) and finish with the easiest or shortest (green). You can’t do other things until finishing your “traffic light” tasks. Don’t be absolutely perfect and think that there is always tomorrow except when there isn’t.
